Preview

Preview shows the article without selection outlines or editing panels.

Enter and exit

Click Play in the left header or press V. Use Edit or V again to return to editing. Switching between modes preserves your approximate position in the article.

Preview width

Preview starts at the full window width. A width chosen manually is retained between Edit and Preview until the page reloads, within the available window width.

The width indicator shows pixels. The device button toggles between 960 px and 400 px. To choose another width, drag either article edge: the grab zone spans the full height and extends slightly into the margin. Handles appear as the cursor approaches an edge; on touch devices they remain visible.

For keyboard resizing, focus a handle and use ← or →; hold Shift for a larger step. Home selects the minimum width and End selects the available window width.

Press ⌘\ on macOS or Ctrl+\ on Windows and Linux to hide or restore preview controls.

Breakpoints

Preview selects the Breakpoint frame matching the chosen article width. See Breakpoints for width ranges and scaling. Canvas zoom in Edit does not affect the published article.

Preview background

Set the margin color in Settings → This site → Preview → Preview background. It defaults to white and saves automatically for the site. Restore default returns it to white.
